Weekly Crime Update Good evening, all, We hope you are doing well. Welcome to this week’s Weekly Crime update. A quick rundown of what your local Neighbourhood officers have been up to over the past six days. This is not an extensive list of all our activity but highlights some of the good work you may be interested in. First and foremost, we have two new PCSO’s on the team, PC Alex Eyitene and PC Hussain. We also welcomed PC Washbrook. We are really pleased to welcome them to our patch so if you see them around, be sure to say hi! We began our working week completing several primary school inputs covering a range of topics including Stranger Danger, bullying and racism. We also held a parent workshop surrounding bullying and online safety, we had a really good turn out of parents and we hope to role this out across more schools in the near future. Designated Neighbourhood officer PC Sutheran attended a meeting with one of our partner agencies to discuss anti-social behaviour on Porters Way. As always, we continue to issue tickets to vehicles that are double parked, parked in a dangerous manner and obstructing a highway. Officers attended DreamChasers and delivered an input on Knife Crime to the young people. We have seized a number of vehicles for no tax across Bordesley Green. If you wish to report any on your street, please drop an email to our team. On Thursday, PS Allen and some of the team attended Bordesley Green Allotments to check in with those at New Roots. Friday morning, we spent some time at Saltley Wellbeing Centre talking to those using the facilities and passing by. We often host drop-in sessions at the Wellbeing Centre, so keep your eyes peeled on our X and WM Now for future events. We also conducted a weapons sweep at Ideal Village Park. Our PCSO’s checked in on some local businesses around the Coventry Road as well, discussing concerns and offering some crime prevention advice.
Crimes of Note In this section of the Weekly Crime update, we list some of the crimes of note that may be on particular interest to residents. Burglary Business on the Coventry Road Attempt Burglary on Azalea Grove Criminal damage to a residence on Bordesley Close Criminal damage to a residence on Botha Road Criminal damage to a residence on Hob Moor Road Criminal damage to vehicle on Mansel Road As the autumn and winter months approach, they bring longer hours of darkness. Opportunistic criminals regularly exploit the cover of early twilight to target homes and vehicles. Create the illusion of occupancy, consider manual plug timers or smart lighting in your home to schedule lamps to turn on before sunset. It is good practise to ensure all windows and doors are locked, even when you are inside the house. Lock all side gates, sheds and garages as well. Ensure no valuables are left on show. A continuous, gentle light eliminates dark shadows where a criminal can hide. In contrast, sudden motion-activated floodlights can create a "yo-yo" effect of blinding light and pitch blackness. However, such lighting can be triggered by wild animals like cats and foxes so this is something to consider. Finally, invest in good CCTV both at the front and rear of your property. There are many affordable options online. It is important you know how to navigate your camera system so if an incident occurs, you can provide police with the evidence promptly. Upcoming Events On 16th October, we will be holding a parent workshop at Starbank primary school at 8:45am
On the 3rd November we will be holding a parent workshop at Bordesley Green Primary school at 9am.
Cuppa with a Copper will be on 27th October at 0930am at St Pauls Church.
We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!
